on the greenYUM…….SUSTAINABLE CUISINE: We would love you to join us for a Sunday Session up on the land for sunset, dinner and fun education with an outdoor cooking class using subtropical ingredients which you can grow in your garden all year round and have fun in going over just what to do with them in the kitchen.
 
If you’ve ever wanted to grow and prepare ALL your own ingredients for making very authentic Asian and exoticc dishes then this is the afternoon for you!
 
We’ll ‘meet’ some surprisingly easy to grow plants (think: GINGER, TURMERIC, GALANGAL, CHILLIES, KAFFIR LIME, LEMONGRASS and TROPICAL SPINACH VARIETIES and MORE and whip up some fresh and delicious dishes from them.
 
Also included this afternoon will be a whole bunch of ‘alternative’ vegetables that you may not have heard of before. These plants not only withstand the hot Queensland summers, they THRIVE in these conditions.
 
As gardeners, we really need to get away from the ‘European’ vegetables that don’t like hot and humid growing conditions and try plants from Brazil, Laos and Indonesia…..so we’ll meet these plants and cook up some delicious dishes with them too……’

Just a little about Kevin our presenter. This is Him and I where I met him at the recent home show in Brisbane. Lyza and I sat through a wonderful presentation as Kevin allowed us to taste plants from his garden. We loved it so much we wanted to share this funny fellow and his amazing plants with our Gold Coast Family. That means you. Kevin will also be bringing a trailer load of his unusual vegetables for us to purchase on the day. So bring some cash.
